Winter

Diamante Poem #1

Day

Sunlit, beaming

Playing, working, tanning

Sunshine, warm, dingy, cold

Sleeping, vibrant, sparkling

Dark, stars

Night

Tanka #2

Red, brown, and orange

Colorful leaves falling down,

Hibernating bears

Birds flying south for winter,

Autumn winds blowing softly.

Tanka #1

Flying in the sky

With two strong feathery wings,

This living creature

Pecks the ground with it's sharp beak,

Brings worms back to it's babies.

Haiku #3

Relaxing and calm,

Palm trees swaying in the breeze

Sand between my toes.

Haiku #2

Shimmering in light,

Swimming under the ocean

Schools of many kinds.

Haiku #1

Golden and burning,

Bright by day and dark at night

The sky's own candle.

Cinquain Poem #2

Peaceful

Orange, yellow...

Red and brown, color leaves

Floating in the cool, calming breeze.

... Autumn.

Cinquain Poem #1

In here

Green scenery,

Is everywhere you look.

This place full of life, is called the...

Forest.

Introduction Poem

I am Kaitlyn Wagenaar.

I have driven my Dad's old truck

I have broken my leg from falling out of a tree

I kiss every frog I catch just in case it is a prince

I hate eating crunchy, green broccoli

I love to go shopping at Old Navy

I have never been Skiing or Snowboarding

I don't know how to ice skate

I love buying things for the kitchen

I am Kaitlyn Wagenaar.

What Is Poetry?

Poetry doesn't always rhyme or have rules. It could have patterns or rhythms, and can be created from emotions. Usually poetry is made from a happy, sad, or upsetting experience, but it can be also be something you make up for fun. You can make songs or poems, and you have the freedom to write about your feelings and thoughts, and express yourself in anything words have to offer. I think poetry can be anything and everything. You can choose to either follow rules, or make up your own. To some people poetry is hard, but I think it is fun, and the description some people use in poetry can take me to another place. Poetry is powerful in more than one way.
